To reach Nazaré, fly into Lisbon or Porto, both major international airports. From Lisbon, the most budget-friendly option is to take a direct bus (~2 hours) from Sete Rios station. Trains are less convenient, as Nazaré has no direct rail service—if you go by train, expect a bus or taxi transfer from Valado dos Frades.
Traveling with friends, renting a car can be cost-effective and gives you flexibility to explore nearby towns. In November, weather can be rainy and windy, sometimes affecting road conditions but not usually disrupting bus or car travel. Boats are not a practical option, and public transportation may run less frequently during stormy weather, so check schedules in advance.
Nazaré enjoys a mild, maritime climate with warm, dry summers and cool, wet winters. Sea breezes keep temperatures pleasant, rarely dropping below 8°C (46°F) in winter or rising above 28°C (82°F) in summer. Expect more sunshine from late spring to early autumn, perfect for outdoor adventures and beach activities.
From November 13 to November 17, Nazaré typically experiences cooler temperatures, averaging between 12°C and 17°C (54°F-63°F), with increased chances of rainfall and some windy days. While extreme weather is rare, occasional Atlantic storms can bring heavier rain and dramatic waves—ideal for watching world-famous surfing, enjoying cozy gastronomy, and vibrant nightlife indoors.
Nazaré is famous for its ultra-fresh seafood, especially grilled sardines, caldeirada (fish stew), and amêijoas à Bulhão Pato (clams in garlic and wine). You’ll also spot local pastries like ovos moles, and sip on regional wines or a shot of ginjinha, a sweet cherry liqueur.
Great spots include A Tasquinha and Maria do Mar for seafood in a lively, cozy setting, or Taberna d’Adélia for delicious plates to share. Try Café Restaurante São Miguel for easygoing meals by the beach and Bar O Correia for a relaxed drink in the evening. Most restaurants are casual, so you’ll feel comfortable after a beach day.
Tipping is appreciated but not required—rounding up the bill or leaving about 5-10% is customary. There are vegetarian options, but seafood dominates the menus, especially in summer. Reservations are recommended for dinner during peak season.

For a fun trip with friends on an average budget, consider staying near Praia da Nazaré or in the historic Sitio district—both offer easy beach and nightlife access. Popular hotels like Hotel Mar Bravo and Hotel Magic deliver comfort and sea views. Apartments or guesthouses, such as Nazaré Beach Apartments and Villamar Style Maison, are perfect for groups and often feature kitchens and communal spaces.
Look for villas and apartments on booking.com or Airbnb for more space and privacy. Nazaré fills up fast during the mid-November big-wave season, so book early for your dates of November 13 to November 17. Opting for accommodations a bit uphill or just outside the center can offer better deals and quieter nights without sacrificing access to the action.
Settle into Nazaré by exploring the seaside atmosphere, tasting fresh local cuisine, and soaking in the scenic beauty while getting acquainted with the town’s unique character.
Begin your journey with a relaxed stroll along the iconic Praia da Nazaré promenade. Take in the salty sea air and vibrant atmosphere, while enjoying street performers and the traditional fishing boats lining the shore. Ideal for group photos and settling into the coastal vibe.
Savor Nazaré's famed seafood at a friendly marisqueira (seafood restaurant). Try specialties like grilled sardines or arroz de marisco, and enjoy the social local dining scene with your friends. Many spots are right by the sea.
Climb or take the funicular to Miradouro do Suberco for sweeping sunset views over the Atlantic and Nazaré’s beaches—a perfect introduction to Nazaré’s legendary surf and stunning horizon. Bring a jacket for the cool sea breezes!

Private Tour: Fátima, Nazaré and Óbidos
Your private tour begins at the Shrine of Fatima. A place of pilgrimage and Catholic worship. It was built to commemorate the appearance of Our Lady of Fatima to the three little shepherds in 1917. The construction began with the Chapel of the Apparitions, but currently it has two other basilicas due to the need to increase the reception area. Near lunch time we will go to Nazaré, an old fishing village, today known as the place where the biggest wave in the world, about 30 meters high, was surfed. Even for those who are not big fans of surfing, Nazaré has its charms with fish drying in the sun and varinas (fisherwomen) selling to passing tourists. The tour ends in Óbidos, an enchanted medieval village with castle walls, narrow streets and white houses! If you are feeling adventurous, we can always take a walk on the castle walls!
